Do your no show socks keep slipping?

When it comes to socks, nothing is more aggravating than constantly having to pull up and adjust slipping, sagging socks. This problem is even worse with no show socks, as they slide off your heel and bunch up under your foot.

One of the many reasons we started Boardroom Socks was to produce men’s socks that would actually stay up all day. Over the last decade, we have learned quite a bit about how to design and manufacture quality socks, paying close attention to comfort and functionality.

As customers began to ask about no-show socks for warmer weather, we quickly learned that they were having a difficult time finding quality no-show socks that stay on. We got to work designing and prototyping a no show sock that, like our dress socks, would stay up all day. After over a year of development, we are excited to bring these no-slip no show socks to market.

How do you keep no-show socks from slipping off your heel?

The most important step in ensuring your no show socks don’t slip is to buy the right pair of no show socks. The market is inundated with no-shows, but how do you know which ones will stay on and which ones won’t? When shopping for no show socks that stay on, there are three key features that you want to look for:

1. Silicone Heel Grip (Must-Have)

The most common part of a no-show sock to slip off is the heel. Your heel naturally rises and falls as you walk, causing the inner heel of the shoe to pull at your socks. If your no show socks keep slipping, odds are they are missing this key feature.

A silicone heel grip is a must-have to ensure your no-show socks stay on.

This small silicone grip ensures the socks stay adhered to your heel. On a quality pair of no shows, this tab will be thin enough that you won’t feel it and will still be quite comfortable. For optimal performance, only wear no show socks with a silicone heel grip.

2. Full Elastic Band

If your no-show socks keep slipping, another potential culprit is the “welt” which is the top portion of the sock. For the most secure fit, it is important to have an elastic welt that goes all the way around your foot.

A continuous elastic welt is a great feature to ensure your no-show socks stay on.

The continuous elastic welt ensures a consistent, balanced stretch that pulls the socks slightly inward. Without this key feature, the socks will have a difficult time staying up.

3. High-Stretch Yarns

Finally, no slip no show socks need to be made with high-stretch yarns that hug your foot. At Boardroom Socks, our no show socks are produced using a customized stretch yarn that we had manufactured specifically for these socks. This material allows the socks to comfortably form to your foot for the perfect fit while also ensuring that they stay up.

Stretchy yarns help keep no-show socks comfortably on your feet.

Without holding the socks in your hands, it can be difficult to determine how much stretch the socks have. If you are shopping online, be sure to examine the material contents in the socks. If the socks contain a blend of elastic and nylon, they likely will have adequate stretch.

Other tips to keep no show socks from slipping off your heel

Wear the right size socks.

When purchasing no-show socks, pay very close attention to size charts and size guides. If the socks are too large, odds are that they will end up slipping off your heel.

Wear shoes that fit.

While this may go without saying, sock problems can often be traced back to poorly-fitting shoes. If your shoes are too large, your feet will slide around. Not only will this increase the odds of the sock being pulled down off your heel but this movement will also lead to increased friction that will prematurely wear out the socks.

If your loafers don't fit snuggly, use tongue pads to improve the fit.

When wearing loafers, this issue can be particularly pronounced as slip-on shoes lack laces to ensure a snug fit. If you find that your shoes are a little loose, try using a tongue pad to improve the fit.

Take care of your socks.

As previously mentioned, high-stretch yarns are a key ingredient in ensuring that your no show socks stay on. Elastic, nylon and other stretchy materials are sensitive to heat. Exposure to high heat will rapidly degrade their elasticity, thus increasing the odds that your no show socks will slip.

Be sure to wash your no-show socks in cold water and then air dry them. The more care you take in the laundering process, the better your socks will perform and the longer they will last.

What are the best no-slip no show socks?

When searching for the best no-slip no show socks, the two most important questions to ask are:

  • Do the socks stay on?
  • Are the socks hidden?

It took our team over a year to design and manufacture a loafer sock that not only meets but exceeds these standards. In fact, the production of Boardroom Socks’ no-show socks is so intricate that it takes a knitting machine nearly as long to produce a pair of no-shows as it does to produce a pair of our over the calf dress socks. While we may be a little biased, we are confident our no-show socks will exceed your expectations. Each pair is made locally in North Carolina and backed with free U.S. shipping and free returns.
